The power of a routine

It's safe to say I've been lacking in the daily routine department lately. With everything that is going on my routine has kinda gone out the window and I am usually someone who thrives from having a routine. So, I thought if I write this post on how important routines are and how I'm going to get back on it maybe it'll hold me accountable in some way?

These photos are of my bullet journal (post coming soon) which hasn't only been a great creative, time filling project but has really helped in terms of habits and routines. I have written a whole post about habit and mood trackers and why they are so helpful so you can read that here. I have also been using my bullet journal to organise my day, down to the tiniest thing so I always feel organised and can fit my daily routine into the mayhem that seems to be happening around me.

I used to be really good with skincare and exercise but like I said, things are so hectic that these things seem to have slipped a bit. I'm a sucker for being ridiculously lazy in the morning. To the extent where I lay in bed for like 45 minutes in the morning watching TV and then rush getting ready for work in 10 minutes. Gone are those days. From Monday I'm going to get up when my first alarm goes off at 6:30 and actually get out of bed and move my body. Me and my best friend are starting a work out plan together, they're just quick 30 minute workouts so I can easily fit it in. Then I will still have 50 minutes before I have to leave for work to have breakfast and get ready. I think this will help my mentality a lot and get me in a good positive mood for the day.

Going back to work is also a huge part of keeping in a routine for me. It has been an amazing distraction and have kept me busy but also, because I work in a school there is so much structure to the day that I thrive off. I know exactly what is happening at what time, of course, some days are different if different events happen, but for the most part it is structured, which I love.

I hope this random ramble made sense and highlighted just how important having a sturdy routine is. Not just for me, or other people who struggle with metal health, but for everyone.
