I'm not going to lie I am super proud of how this look turned out. I saw one of my blogger friends Francesca do this "Glasgow smile" SFX tutorial on her blog and I followed it along and I couldn't recommend it enough! I've had little experience in SFX make-up and I managed to do it and it turned out amazing!
I actually remembered to take some progress pictures for this look, hooray! I am going to link Francesca's tutorial here because she explains it so so well and this post will basically just be a copy of her's if I was to write it all out which is pretty pointless. I adapted it slightly so I will add in the bits that I adapted.
I started out with a fully made up face with cooler toned contour than usual and I put a lot of cool toned, purpley based eyeshadow roughly around my eyes to make myself look dead and a bit more creepy.
I started layering up tissue and liquid latex in a smile pattern on my face.
I added more liquid latex and tissue until I had 3 layers of it and slightly overlapped the corners of my mouth with the last layer. I don't recommend eating it, it doesn't taste great!
I then applied my foundation and a lighter concealer over the tissue and liquid latex once it was dry to make it blend into my skin.
Time to get the scissors out! I used really skinny tweezers to slightly lift the edge near the corners of my mouth so I could fit the nail scissors under the layers of tissue. I scared my mum a treat with this one.
I also put some more of the purpley toned eyeshadows down the sides of my nose to make my face look skinnier than usual and add to the whole dead effect.
Where Francesca used black and red cream make-up in the inside of the scars I used a blood red lipliner and a lipstick along with some black eyeshadow to give it a smudgier effect.
I finished it off with a tonne of fake blood and applied it very heavily to make the cuts look fresh.
I love how this turned out, if I were doing anything for halloween this would be my go to.
Would you try this look out?
