In November I made a life/career decision and decided I wanted to train to be a makeup artist. I have loved makeup since I was about 17 and I have always wanted to make a career out of it but have been scared what people will think or how to do about it. After loads of long conversations with Dan about it I decided to finally take the plunge and I started my journey with Blend Academy.
It was really important for me that I was able to train alongside my current day job and Blend Academy allows me to do exactly that. It is all done online, you watch video tutorials and read information on each module which is based on a different echo question or makeup look. You then practise on clients (I have basically just used family and friends) take photos of your best one, create a face chart and notes to go with it and send it off to be marked. You then receive really detailed feedback and whether you are ready to move on to the next module or not.
One of the best things about Blend is that you can do it all in your own time. If you want to qualify quickly then you can do a couple of modules a month or if you want to take it slow you can do one every few months. There are 10 modules altogether so it’s not incredibly long. I started in November and I have just completed module 8, only 2 more to go!
The tutors are all so kind, caring and professional and offer the best support and advice whether it is about a specific module or about the industry itself. Laura is especially amazing with detailed feedback on each module and acting like a friend throughout the whole course!
Blend also offers professional discount on lots of incredible makeup brands like illamasqua. I purchased my kit through Illamasqua and although it was still pretty expensive with the discount I was able to receive through Blend it was much more manageable and I know I was getting really good quality product.
The Intro to Makeup Artistry course costs £650 which is a really competitive price for this type of course and gets you full support and a certificate to say you have qualified when you have finished.
I cannot recommend Blend enough!
